About the artist
After a career at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, Loreta Giannetti turns in 2005 to her passion for art and embraces watercolour. After studying watercolour at the Ottawa Art School and at the Montreal Visual Art Center, she continues in Montreal by joining the artist coop Cactus9 and Vivartz where she has the opportunity to exhibit her paintings in the coop’s gallery. She participates also with other artists in various group art exhibits in different gallery spaces both in Canada and Italy. She has also three main solo shows, two in Montreal and one in Vancouver.
In 2009, she creates a non for profit art organization in Italy, the International Watercolour Center of Molise (CIAM) in her home town, Casacalenda. The objective of the Center is to increase awareness of watercolour technique in the Molise region and to attract watercolours artists and tourists to come for art vacations in the region and most specifically in Casacalenda. In 2012, among others, she was selected by the Bienale of Watercolour of Albignasego (Padova) to represent Molise region at the exhibition. In Montreal she teaches as a voluntary artist at the YMCA and the Casa d’Italia to senior students. Since 2009 she spends her time between Montreal and the Molise and exhibits her paintings in Canada and Italy.
